It is ironic that an object with such an 'unmentionable' function is now proudly displayed as an ornamental piece in so many homes. We have the Victorian's to thank for taking a basic, utilitarian item and zazzing it up as only the Victorian's could!
This porcelain chamber is beautifully decorated with a green transferware, making it the perfect vessel for Fall decor. Measures 8 3/4" wide mouth, 5 1/2" tall. In good vintage condition -- no cracks, chips, some crazing and wear showing in the finish/glaze. Only bottom mark is that of an unidentified blue stylized flower.
We have used this piece in our antique shop as a centerpiece around Thanksgiving. It looks great filled several small potted mums. No one ever questions the origin of the pot, as it looks so pretty!
