Rosebud SALAD Plate, Harmony House, 7 5/8" Sears Roebuck China
Back in the day (1940s), Sears Roebuck and Co. was very progressive by introducing an interior design brand - Harmony House - offering four basic color coordinated items. This approach meant the items purchased this year would match or coordinate with last years finds. Housewives of the time appreciated the approach and made this one of Sears most popular brands and concepts - Sears eventually expanded the program to include 15 - 20 colors.
Hallmark on bottom reads:
HARMONY HOUSE, Fine China
Rosebud
HH LT DAWN GRAY
Made in Japan
This particular pattern was produced, starting in 1959. White base porcelain plate measures 7 5/8" diameter. Pattern features leaves in lt. dawn gray and pink rosebuds, edged in platinum. This item is in mint condition.
My consignor tell the story this was his mother's wedding china, and because his father did not like the pink roses, the china set displayed in the hutch for several decades :(
