  "Dick Turpin" Toby Ashtray, by Royal Doulton ready for your Bar/Pub display! Quality item, with the 1930's Royal Doulton mark on bottom. "8135" is embossed on the bottom. From the 1930's. Cigarettes are stored in the hat, and the base is used as the ashtray.
  
  Measures 3" tall, 4 1/4" base. Item is in good vintage condition -- no chips, cracks, repairs or other signs of distress.
  
  Dick Turpin was a notorious horse thief, executed in York, England, for his crimes. Turpin became the subject of legend after his execution, romanticised as dashing and heroic in English ballads and popular theatre of the 18th and 19th centuries and in film and television of the 20th century.
