  Evidently, marketing towards children began back in the 1920's -- these figurines where designed to inspire young 'uns to brush their teeth with a fun and whimsical bath accessory.
  
  This sassy orange dog measures 6" tall with a base 2 1/4" wide, and is good condition with no cracks, repairs, crazing or other signs of distress. Bottom mark is "Made in Japan," and can stand upright on a counter or hang on wall from the hole in the back. Has two 'slots' for brushes -- on the top, and on his front, and has a small drain hole on the bottom. The base has a lip, designed to hold a small tube of toothpaste. His quirky face has hand-painted features. All painted surfaces have a bit of wear, as consistent with age and use of item.
  
  Great for collectors -- also makes a cute 'vase' for airplants.
