Vintage Road Sign, Ernst Hagerstrom Banbury Road sign, Hagerstrom Metalcraft Studio, Collectible Road Sign
We are excited to offer this unique road sign, created by the renowned Ernst Hagerstrom in his Wheeling, Illinois studio. Mr. Hagerstrom's work is recognized for its unique design and attention to detail. Original signs, in great condition, are hard to find.
The sign features an aluminum castle silhouette on the top of a metal base, with the aluminum letters screwed in to a black metal base. Designed to hang on a post from the side bracket. Bracket measures 12 7/8" long, 1 5/8" wide. Two screw holes are for 1/4" screws.
Overall dimensions: Height 18 3/4" x 18 3/4" wide. The words are in the original silver color of the aluminum. The top castle cut out is aluminum, but oversprayed with black paint. The sign base is black metal with a slight overspray of gray paint (matches the aluminum). This overspray technique adds interest and dimension to an otherwise flat piece.
Sign is in excellent vintage condition. Only minor scratches, a tad bit of rust, and worn paint around the screw holes and on the back of the bracket. No house paint, bullet holes, dents, missing letters, or other signs of distress from hanging outdoors. This item has been well maintained.
