Pattern: Currier & Ives - The Village Blacksmith (1977 - 1978)
Details: 8", decorative limited edition plate. Fine porcelain collector's plate series produced exclusively by Bing & Grondahl for the Danbury Mint. The series has 12 different scenes based on lithographs designed by Currier & Ives from the 1800's to 1907. Each plate depicts a different Americana scene. "The Village Blacksmith" depicts a blacksmith working outside his shop, with small children watching while the apprentice keeps the fire hot. A big tree shades the shop. A church, wood fence, dirt street can be seen in the background. The plate has the Currier & Ives artwork in the center, framed with a single gold line. The border has a beautiful gold scroll pattern on the border and finished with a gold rim. The back mark the information regarding this collection, maker. Two pre-drilled holes for hanging with wire or a pretty ribbon.
Condition: Plate is in great vintage condition -- no chips, cracks, repairs or scratches.
